Marlow 5 Mile Report by Ros Hall
The Marlow 5 was a new race in the ERR calendar and with a 9.30am start we headed off early on a surprisingly cold May morning.
Eleven ERR runners took part so plenty of jokers were played as we shivered at the start, having dropped off our bags and layers as late as possible.
The start was in a park next to the Thames in the centre of Marlow and then the route wriggled round the streets of central Marlow, mainly on closed roads.
There seemed to be a wide range of runners, club runners looking for a fast 5 miles and also many who may have been running that distance infrequently or for the first time. Almost 1000 people took part, the winner took 26:33 to finish and the final runner came in at 1:21:19 . There was plenty of support from the locals along the route.
Tom Baker was the first ERR man to finish in 30:23 and Alison was our 1st lady in a speedy 39:29, her legs having made a quicker recovery than mine from running a marathon only 2 weeks before!
