Ducklington Dash Report by Ros Hall

Ducklington Dash 2025.

Those who know me will be aware that I don’t favour running races off road or in the evening but here I was again arriving on a warm summer’s evening on the rutted track leading to the car parking for the 4th Duck Dash.

Friendly familiar faces kept arriving in the sunshine and there was a good turnout from ERR with 19 of us taking part and as usual there was a warm welcome from Witney Roadrunners who organised the event.

The race started on a gravel track for the first mile during which there was the usual place changing. Jane G and Gill managed to pull ahead but I tried to keep them in sight. We then turned the corner to the narrow track where it is difficult to overtake but I managed to hold my place. At this point the route turns back on itself so there is the boost of cheering and being cheered by other runners coming past.

Back on the gravel track I managed to pick up the pace, slowly gain on and overtake Jane and Gill and keep ahead of Alison C who was hot on my heels. I kept ahead going across the road into the sports ground and round the field (why is there always that extra field) to the finish.

We had a good set of results with Dafydd  coming 3rd male and 1st VM40, John R 1st VM60 and a clean sweep in the VM 70 with Hugh 1st, Ted German 2nd and Adrian Pinnock 3rd.

The women also did well with Chantelle 4th overall and 3rd in category, Rhea 2nd VF40, and in  VF60 Ros (me) 3rd, Gill 4th Katherine B 5th and Jackie 6th.

Yes, I’ll be back next year!!!
