White Horse Half Marathon Report by Matt Daniels

Being former residents of Wantage, the town where we bought our first house, this is an area Kate, and I have fond memories of.

However, Wantage and Grove, and the streets we used to plod around in our early days of running have changed massively since we left 12 years ago.

This was the 3rd year in a row I have entered this race. Last year the ERR number was 3; Nick H, Toby & I were joined by 9 others this year, all seemingly attracted by Club Championship points, or to check out Grove’s expanding housing estate, or in need of a new mug perhaps.

As with the last couple of years, it was a pleasant but windy run – although no winds requiring a named storm this year.

A lack of the elite ERR runners on the male side meant your race reporter was the first male home. Notable finishers and featuring in the awards ceremony were Kate Daniels (2nd LV45) & Ros Hall (1st LV65). The ladies team also claimed 3rd spot in the Grand Prix.

Justin was a winner too of a spot prize – some local ale to fuel his mountain climbing perhaps.

All in all, a collection of pretty decent times from all ERR who ran; and hopefully a number of us will be there again for the 2027 edition.
