Tetsworth 10k Report by Nick Hardwick
13 Eynsham Roadrunners took part in this club championship race in the small village of
Tetsworth which lies just south of Thame, adjacent to the M40.
The course started on the village green opposite the social club, as everyone assembled next
the inflatable race start arch we were notified this wasn’t the actual start, but 150 metres
further up the field. Once started we ran round the outside of the green and through the
village to be met with the first assent, hardly the Eiger, but certainly would have liked to
settle into the race beforehand. The weather was perfect for race day and the course
undulates along Oxfordshire country lanes surrounding Tetsworth, the village setting gives
the event a traditional local race atmosphere especially with the course beginning and
ending on the village green. The field is limited to 200 and as observed, was busy with
Thame club runners, it was chip timed and extremely well organized with loads of friendly
marshals everywhere. The location of the halfway water station was joked about afterwards
as it ended up further away than the signage promised which when you just could do with a
quick slurp, was torture. There was a good mix of abilities amongst our club runners with
members spread throughout the field with Tom coming in first after playing his joker,
category winners included John R 1 st MV60(joker), Nadine 1 st LV60, Ros 1 st LV65 and Mary G
1 st LV70. A well stocked homemade cake table was the perfect finish to a well organized
local event.
