Virtual Motavation No. 2 Report, by Jen Lanksford

Last year was my first experience of taking part in the Mota-vation Summer Road Race Series, a series of five road races, each approximately four miles, held monthly at various venues in Oxfordshire on Thursday nights.

Last year we were all car sharing and enjoying post race snacks together whilst experiencing some very hot running evenings.  The heat is the only similarity with this year, when things are obviously very different.

However, thanks to the creativity of our fantastic committee, the Virtual Mota-vation Series is still going ahead. The challenge this year is 4 miles, picking the actual or a similar contoured course, on the last Thursday of the month from April through to August.     Last week 28th May was the 2nd race of the series, “Bletchingdon 2 Hills” and again it was a beautiful day, even at 0730am.   I love running as part of the ERR team so running it without all of my running buddies was a daunting thought.  However, Alison Craggs came to the rescue (no car sharing allowed this year!)  We parked in Waitrose, did our warm up and then headed for Holy Trinity Church to ran our 4 mile route around Madley Park and Oxford Hill. It wasn’t quite the same as running alongside and being challenged by our Oxfordshire Club Buddies but we both entered into the ‘race’ spirit and gave it our all!  A huge well done to all 37 runners taking part on such a hot day.
