Chiltern Chase Results

Congratulations to Robert for winning not just the MV40 title, but the race itself, which makes 2 race victories in a week (can anyone remember the last time an Eynsham runner did that?).

Well done also to Jacky for the LV45 prize, although some young upstart had the nerve to pip Kate for the LV55.

If anyone’s time was different from that given in the official results below (which were gun to chip), then please let me know, along with any PBs/jokers that I’ve missed.

Joan won the wine and her report follows the results.

12 June dawned with the promise of a typical summers day – low cloud and icy rain – as Sandra picked me up to drive to Ewelme, home of the famous watercress beds.  With no shelter in the field everyone waited till the last minute to discard fleeces and waterproofs;  Kate’s friends from warmer climes were gamely there to cheer her on! The gun sounded, two women near me screamed and we were off.  We bounded along footpaths, lanes and tracks, past huge fields of opium poppies (watercress is so last year) and arrived back at the field in time for giant muffins and mugs of tea. We proudly applauded Robert Storey who was race winner although he did have to give the first lady her trophy back.  Jacky Pinnock had a great race and won first lady o/45. All in all it was a lovely course and anyway who cares about the weather………….
