3 Peaks 24 Hour Challenge, 21-22nd June 2007

Eynsham Road Runners took two teams to
Scotland for the start of the Fire Service 25th Anniversary Three Peaks Mountain
Challenge held over 21st-22nd June 2007. The event, organised by Salisbury Fire
Service, is held in aid of the Fire Service Benevolent Fund.
The teams were required to climb Ben Nevis, Sca Fell and Snowdon, the three
largest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales respectively, in under 24
hours. Both teams successfully completed the challenge in less than 20 hours,
qualifying for gold awards.
The men's team finished in 19 hours 31 minutes winning 2 awards:
First All Over 50 Veterans and the Over the Hill Oldest Team, whilst the ladies
team were 6 minutes behind in 19 hours and 37 minutes to win the First Ladies
Team Award. The Avon Fire 'Jam Potters' were the overall winners, finishing in
15 hours 49 minutes.
