Membership

Have you been handed one of these blue wristbands whilst out running? If so, please consider joining Eynsham Roadrunners. Come on down to the club and receive 1 month's free membership. Just pass the band on!

We welcome new members at Eynsham Roadrunners. If you think you would like to join our club, we recommend that you come along to one of our Wednesday evening sessions (6.30pm at Eynsham pavilion). This is our main club run of the week, where you will meet most of us. It would be a good idea to contact us before coming along, so that we can introduce you to everyone and make you feel welcome.

Running Standards

At Eynsham Roadrunners, we have the whole spectrum of running abilities. However, we strongly recommend that in order to participate fully in our club runs, you should be able to jog continuously for at least 20-30 minutes. If this is not you, then don't despair! Whatever your level of fitness, you should be able to build up to this level in less than 2 months: see our recommended beginner's program.

Joining the Club

Once you are sure that you would like to become a member of Eynsham Roadrunners, you can fill in a membership form obtainable from the club folder on a Wednesday night or print one out from here. As a member, you will be able to take part in all our events, both running related and social!

Juniors

We also encourage junior membership of Eynsham Roadrunners. Supervised weekly runs are organised for junior members between the ages of 9 and 14. To read more about our policies and procedures for junior members, please click here.

About ERR

Eynsham Roadrunners was formed in 1986 and at the present time has some 100+ paid up members of varying ages.

Many people feel daunted by the thought of joining a running club, feeling that perhaps they are not up to the "standard" required, but let us assure you that the standard of runner is quite varied from those who prefer to jog as a means of keeping fit to those who like to take part competitively.  Running with a club is much more fun than on your own, especially for the lady runners who may feel vulnerable going out running on their own.

As well as taking part in many of the local Fun Runs and Road Races, some of the more adventurous Club members have in the past taken part in the Malta (full and half), Berlin, Dublin, Paris, Cologne, New York and San Fransisco marathons.  We also have members regularly completing the London Marathon and sometimes the Great North Run half marathon.

Annual events organised by the Club are the 100 Mile Charity Day which raises money for local charities (hopefully well over £1,000).  There is also a 10 kilometre Road Race which takes place on the last Sunday in November (with some 600+ runners taking part) together with a 1 mile Fun Run on the same day.  Each year the Club holds its Handicap Race for members only, with an award going to the most improved runner and awards for category winners.  We also have a Challenge event with Witney Roadrunners each year with a home and away race.  Also we have a duathlon handicap race (bike and run) for club runners as a fun event and more seriously a Triathlon.  We also run a Club Championship competition for men and ladies over a series of 14 races.

The Club organises a wide range of social activities so that the non-running members of the family can come along and join in the fun.  Some events for this year are or have been: Cycling Weekend, Three Peaks Challenge (veteran winners twice), Canoeing, Weekend Walks and Christmas Dinner.

The annual membership fee is just £12 for adults and £6 for children or £30 Family Membership.
